At MS 50, we promise to teach your student rigorous academics. We believe this learning happens best when students feel supported and are able to express themselves in the arts, athletics, and activism. The data collected through the New York State Exams shows that these efforts are having a clear impact! Check out the NYC Public School’s website where you can find data all city public schools.

Overall Proficiency Rates

Our students’ proficiency rates have grown consistently in the last decade. Each year, more of our students improve on their scores from the previous year, often jumping multiple grade levels in the course of a single school year.

Education for Equity

We firmly believe that all students deserve a school where they are represented, where their voices are heard, and where they can thrive academically and socially. As the Magnet School for Debate and Youth Leadership we invest deeply in the voices of our students, centering them in everything that we do. Through inquiry and project-based learning, developing evidence based argumentation throughout all content areas, and infusing culturally responsive and sustaining educational (CRSE) practices into our classrooms we work every day to reduce the education gaps that have persisted in the United States for far too long.

Continued Growth

Over our students’ time at MS 50, we push them to grow at a pace that matches their learning needs. Through rigorous academics, high expectations, and engaging project-based learning, our students continue to expand their learning with increased test scores across the board.
