Changing your Password


Option 1: You know your password

If you already know your password, it is easy to change! Just log into the DOE’s Self Service Portal and enter your new password. While there, you can also create a PIN which will allow you to change your password in the future if you forget it. Check out this video that walks you through the process.

Option 2: You Don’t know your password

If you forgot your DOE password and you haven’t created a PIN, you can change your password one of two ways:

  1. Have a parent or guardian log in to your NYC Schools Account and they can change your password for you

  2. Complete the Password Reset Request form and we will reset it and send it to an email or phone of your choosing. Please note, this is only for your @nycstudents.net account.


Password Requirements

Your new password must:

  • contain at least one lower-case letter

  • contain at least one upper-case letter

  • contain at least one number

  • be at least eight characters long

Passwords cannot

  • be the same as a previous password

  • contain your name or username
